Description
A delightful homemade syrup that captures the essence of fall with sweet pumpkin and creamy marshmallow flavors, perfect for your coffee or other beverages.
Ingredients
- 1 cup pumpkin puree
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon marshmallow extract (optional, for enhanced marshmallow flavor)
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, combine the pumpkin puree, granulated sugar, and water.
- Stir in the pumpkin pie spice and the pinch of salt.
- Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly until the sugar is dissolved.
- Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the syrup has thickened slightly.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat.
- Stir in the vanilla extract and marshmallow extract (if using).
- Let the syrup cool completely.
- Strain the syrup through a fine-mesh sieve or cheesecloth into a clean jar or bottle to remove any pumpkin solids.
- Store the syrup in the refrigerator.
Notes
- For a smoother syrup, you can blend the pumpkin puree with the water before adding it to the saucepan.
- Adjust the amount of pumpkin pie spice to your preference.
- If you don’t have marshmallow extract, the vanilla extract will still provide a lovely flavor.
- This syrup will last for about 2-3 weeks in the refrigerator.
