Description

A quick and easy recipe for delicious Swedish meatballs using frozen meatballs, perfect for a weeknight meal or entertaining.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound frozen fully cooked meatballs
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/4 cups beef broth
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Salt to taste
  • Optional: fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
  2. Add the frozen meatballs and cook, stirring occasionally, until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Sprinkle the flour over the meatballs and stir to coat. Cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
  4. Gradually whisk in the beef broth until smooth.
  5. Bring the mixture to a simmer, then reduce heat and cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce has thickened.
  6. Stir in the heavy cream, Worcestershire sauce, and black pepper.
  7. Continue to simmer for another 5 minutes, or until the sauce is heated through and meatballs are cooked.
  8. Taste and season with salt if needed.
  9. Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

  • You can substitute half-and-half for heavy cream for a lighter sauce.
  • Serve over egg noodles, mashed potatoes, or rice.
  • For a richer flavor, add a splash of brandy or sherry to the sauce.
