Description
Spinach Artichoke Swirls are a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer, perfect for parties or a casual get-together. These savory bites feature a creamy spinach and artichoke filling encased in a flaky pastry.
Ingredients
- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
- 1 can (14 ounces) artichoke hearts, drained and chopped
- 1 package (10 ounces) frozen chopped spinach, thawed and squeezed dry
- 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, combine the chopped artichoke hearts, squeezed dry spinach, softened cream cheese, Parmesan cheese, mozzarella cheese, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined and creamy.
- On a lightly floured surface, unfold the thawed puff pastry sheet.
- Spread the spinach artichoke mixture evenly over the puff pastry, leaving a small border around the edges.
- Starting from one of the longer sides, carefully roll up the puff pastry tightly into a log.
- Using a sharp knife, slice the log into 1/2-inch thick swirls.
- Place the swirls onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving some space between them.
- Brush the tops of the swirls with the beaten egg wash.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and puffed.
- Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- Ensure the spinach is thoroughly squeezed dry to prevent a watery filling.
- For extra flavor, you can add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the filling.
- These can be made ahead of time and baked just before serving.
- Leftovers can be reheated in the oven or a toaster oven.
