Description

Spinach Artichoke Swirls are a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer, perfect for parties or a casual get-together. These savory bites feature a creamy spinach and artichoke filling encased in a flaky pastry.

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 can (14 ounces) artichoke hearts, drained and chopped
  • 1 package (10 ounces) frozen chopped spinach, thawed and squeezed dry
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the chopped artichoke hearts, squeezed dry spinach, softened cream cheese, Parmesan cheese, mozzarella cheese, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined and creamy.
  3. On a lightly floured surface, unfold the thawed puff pastry sheet.
  4. Spread the spinach artichoke mixture evenly over the puff pastry, leaving a small border around the edges.
  5. Starting from one of the longer sides, carefully roll up the puff pastry tightly into a log.
  6. Using a sharp knife, slice the log into 1/2-inch thick swirls.
  7. Place the swirls onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving some space between them.
  8. Brush the tops of the swirls with the beaten egg wash.
  9. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and puffed.
  10. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Ensure the spinach is thoroughly squeezed dry to prevent a watery filling.
  • For extra flavor, you can add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the filling.
  • These can be made ahead of time and baked just before serving.
  • Leftovers can be reheated in the oven or a toaster oven.
