Description
This recipe provides a method for cooking a boneless turkey breast to achieve a tender and juicy result using a slow cooker, perfect for a smaller gathering or a simple weeknight meal.
Ingredients
- 1 (2 to 3 pound) boneless turkey breast roast, tied
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon dried thyme
- 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Rub the turkey breast with olive oil.
- In a small bowl, combine the thyme, rosemary, salt, and pepper. Rub the seasoning mixture all over the turkey breast.
- Pour chicken broth into the bottom of the slow cooker.
- Place the seasoned turkey breast into the slow cooker.
- Cover and cook on low for 3 to 4 hours, or until the internal temperature of the turkey reaches 165°F (74°C).
- Remove the turkey from the slow cooker and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
- For extra flavor, you can add chopped onions or carrots to the bottom of the slow cooker beneath the turkey.
- The cooking time may vary slightly depending on the size and thickness of your turkey breast and the specific slow cooker model. Always rely on an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) for doneness.
- If you prefer a crispy skin (which is difficult to achieve in a slow cooker), you can place the cooked turkey under the broiler for a few minutes after resting, although this recipe uses a boneless roast which typically doesn’t have skin.
