Description

These Red Velvet Marble Waffles offer a delightful twist on a classic breakfast, combining the rich flavor of red velvet with a beautiful marbled appearance.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar
  • Red food coloring

Instructions

  1. Preheat your waffle iron.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, vegetable oil, egg, and vanilla extract.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and whisk until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. In a small cup, mix the white vinegar with a few drops of red food coloring until you achieve a vibrant red color.
  6. Pour about 2/3 of the waffle batter into a separate bowl. Add the red food coloring mixture to the remaining batter and stir gently to combine.
  7. Grease your waffle iron if necessary.
  8. Pour about 1/2 cup of the plain batter onto the hot waffle iron.
  9. Dollop spoonfuls of the red velvet batter onto the plain batter.
  10. Use a toothpick or skewer to gently swirl the batters together, creating a marbled effect.
  11. Close the waffle iron and cook according to the manufacturer’s instructions until golden brown and cooked through.
  12. Repeat with the remaining batter.
  13. Serve warm with your favorite toppings.

Notes

  • For a richer red color, you can use gel food coloring.
  • Ensure your buttermilk is at room temperature for best results.
  • Do not over-swirl the batters, as it can cause the colors to blend too much.
