A delicious and easy-to-make ham and cheese quiche recipe, perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a light dinner.
Ingredients
- 1 (9-inch) unbaked pie crust
- 1 cup chopped cooked ham
- 1 cup shredded Swiss cheese (or Gruyère)
- 4 large eggs
- 1 1/2 cups heavy cream or milk
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Place the unbaked pie crust in a 9-inch pie plate. Crimp the edges as desired.
- Sprinkle the chopped ham and shredded cheese evenly over the bottom of the pie crust.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream (or milk), salt, pepper, and nutmeg (if using).
- Pour the egg mixture carefully over the ham and cheese in the pie crust.
- Bake for 40 to 50 minutes, or until the quiche is set and lightly golden brown on top. A knife inserted near the center should come out clean.
- Let the quiche cool for 10-15 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, use heavy cream instead of milk.
- You can substitute different cheeses, such as cheddar or provolone, for the Swiss cheese.
- If the crust starts to brown too quickly, cover the edges loosely with aluminum foil.
- This quiche can be prepared ahead of time and refrigerated. Reheat in a 350°F oven until warmed through.
- To make this recipe gluten-free, use a gluten-free pie crust.
- Other vegetables like spinach, mushrooms, or onions can be added to the filling.
