Description

A delicious and easy-to-make ham and cheese quiche recipe, perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a light dinner.

Ingredients

  • 1 (9-inch) unbaked pie crust
  • 1 cup chopped cooked ham
  • 1 cup shredded Swiss cheese (or Gruyère)
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy cream or milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Place the unbaked pie crust in a 9-inch pie plate. Crimp the edges as desired.
  3. Sprinkle the chopped ham and shredded cheese evenly over the bottom of the pie crust.
  4. In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream (or milk), salt, pepper, and nutmeg (if using).
  5. Pour the egg mixture carefully over the ham and cheese in the pie crust.
  6. Bake for 40 to 50 minutes, or until the quiche is set and lightly golden brown on top. A knife inserted near the center should come out clean.
  7. Let the quiche cool for 10-15 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use heavy cream instead of milk.
  • You can substitute different cheeses, such as cheddar or provolone, for the Swiss cheese.
  • If the crust starts to brown too quickly, cover the edges loosely with aluminum foil.
  • This quiche can be prepared ahead of time and refrigerated. Reheat in a 350°F oven until warmed through.
  • To make this recipe gluten-free, use a gluten-free pie crust.
  • Other vegetables like spinach, mushrooms, or onions can be added to the filling.
