Ingredients
- 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- Sesame seeds, for garnish (optional)
- Green onions, sliced, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, whisk together soy sauce, honey, sesame oil, rice vinegar, minced garlic, grated ginger, and red pepper flakes (if using).
- Place the chicken in a resealable plastic bag or a shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the chicken, ensuring it’s fully coated.
- Marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, or up to 4 hours. For deeper flavor, marinate longer.
- Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
- Remove chicken from the marinade, discarding the excess marinade.
- Grill chicken for 6-8 minutes per side, or until cooked through and internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
- Let the chicken rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
- Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions, if desired.
Notes
- For best results, use fresh ginger and garlic.
- If you don’t have rice vinegar, apple cider vinegar can be substituted in a pinch, though the flavor will be slightly different.
- Ensure the chicken is fully cooked to a safe internal temperature.
