Description

These Irresistible Salted Caramel Apple Bars are a delightful treat, combining the sweetness of apples with the rich, buttery flavor of salted caramel, all nestled in a crumbly bar base.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 4 cups peeled and chopped apples (about 4 medium apples)
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Press half of the dough into the prepared baking pan to form the crust.
  7. Spread the chopped apples evenly over the crust.
  8. Drizzle the caramel sauce over the apples.
  9. Sprinkle the sea salt over the caramel.
  10. Crumble the remaining dough over the top of the caramel and apples.
  11. Bake for 35-45 minutes, or until golden brown and set.
  12. Let cool completely before cutting into bars.

Notes

  • For a richer caramel flavor, use a high-quality caramel sauce.
  • You can adjust the amount of sea salt to your preference.
  • Ensure apples are evenly chopped for consistent cooking.
  • Allowing the bars to cool completely will make them easier to cut.
