Description
These healthy air fryer churro bites offer a guilt-free way to enjoy a sweet treat. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, they’re a healthier alternative to traditional churros.
Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 large egg
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar (for coating)
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon (for coating)
Instructions
- Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, 1/4 cup sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Spoon or pipe the batter into greased churro molds or small silicone muffin liners, filling them about two-thirds full.
- Place the churro bites in the air fryer basket, ensuring they are not overcrowded. You may need to cook in batches.
- Air fry for 8-10 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
- While the churro bites are cooking, mix the remaining 2 tablespoons of sugar and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon in a small bowl.
- Once cooked, immediately toss the warm churro bites in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
- Serve warm.
Notes
- For a crispier texture, you can lightly spray the churro bites with cooking spray before air frying.
- Experiment with different dipping sauces like sugar-free chocolate sauce or a light yogurt dip.
- If you don’t have churro molds, small silicone muffin liners work well.
