Description

These healthy air fryer churro bites offer a guilt-free way to enjoy a sweet treat. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, they’re a healthier alternative to traditional churros.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar (for coating)
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon (for coating)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, 1/4 cup sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Spoon or pipe the batter into greased churro molds or small silicone muffin liners, filling them about two-thirds full.
  6. Place the churro bites in the air fryer basket, ensuring they are not overcrowded. You may need to cook in batches.
  7. Air fry for 8-10 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  8. While the churro bites are cooking, mix the remaining 2 tablespoons of sugar and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon in a small bowl.
  9. Once cooked, immediately toss the warm churro bites in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  10. Serve warm.

Notes

  • For a crispier texture, you can lightly spray the churro bites with cooking spray before air frying.
  • Experiment with different dipping sauces like sugar-free chocolate sauce or a light yogurt dip.
  • If you don’t have churro molds, small silicone muffin liners work well.
