Description
A quick and delicious stovetop chili recipe featuring ground beef, perfect for a weeknight meal.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (15 oz) can diced tomatoes, undrained
- 1 (15 oz) can kidney beans, rinsed and drained
- 1 (15 oz) can black beans, rinsed and drained
- 1 (8 oz) can tomato sauce
- 1 (4 oz) can green chilies, diced
- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- Optional toppings: shredded cheese, sour cream, chopped cilantro
Instructions
- Brown ground beef in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Drain off any excess grease.
- Add chopped onion to the pot and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in minced garlic and cook for 1 minute more until fragrant.
- Add diced tomatoes, kidney beans, black beans, tomato sauce, and green chilies to the pot.
- Stir in chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper.
- Bring the chili to a simmer, then reduce heat to low, cover, and cook for at least 20 minutes, or longer for flavors to meld.
- Serve hot, with optional toppings.
Notes
- For a spicier chili, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or a diced jalapeño.
- This chili can be made ahead of time and reheats well.
- Feel free to add other vegetables like bell peppers or corn.
