Description
Crispy fried feta rolls drizzled with a sweet and spicy chili honey sauce.
Ingredients
- 1 block (7 oz) feta cheese, drained
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (or to taste)
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Cut the feta cheese block into 4 equal pieces.
- Set up a dredging station with three shallow dishes: one with flour, one with the beaten egg, and one with panko breadcrumbs.
- Dredge each feta piece in flour, shaking off any excess. Then dip it in the egg, letting any excess drip off. Finally, coat evenly with panko breadcrumbs.
- Heat the olive oil in a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat.
- Carefully place the breaded feta pieces in the hot oil and fry for 2-3 minutes per side, until golden brown and crispy.
- While the feta is frying, gently warm the honey in a small saucepan or microwave-safe bowl. Stir in the red pepper flakes.
- Remove the fried feta from the skillet and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.
- Arrange the fried feta rolls on a serving platter. Drizzle generously with the chili honey.
- Garnish with fresh chopped parsley and serve immediately.
Notes
- Ensure the feta is well-drained to prevent excess moisture from affecting the breading.
- Adjust the amount of red pepper flakes in the honey to your desired spice level.
- Serve immediately for the best crispy texture.
