Description

A quick and easy turkey chili recipe that can be prepared in just 30 minutes, perfect for a fast and satisfying dinner.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (15-ounce) can kidney beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1 (15-ounce) can black beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1 (14.5-ounce) can diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 (8-ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Optional toppings: shredded cheese, sour cream, chopped cilantro, sliced jalapeños

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the ground turkey, breaking it up with a spoon, and cook until browned. Drain any excess fat.
  3. Stir in the chopped onion and green bell pepper. Cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  4. Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  5. Stir in the kidney beans, black beans, diced tomatoes (undrained), tomato sauce, and chicken broth.
  6. Add the chili powder, cumin, dried oregano, and cayenne pepper (if using). Stir well to combine.
  7. Bring the chili to a boil, then reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for at least 15 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  8. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
  9. Serve hot with your favorite toppings such as shredded cheese, sour cream, chopped cilantro, or sliced jalapeños.

Notes

  • For a thicker chili, simmer uncovered for a few extra minutes.
  • If you prefer a spicier chili, increase the amount of cayenne pepper or add a pinch of red pepper flakes.
  • This chili freezes well. Allow it to cool completely before transferring it to an airtight container for freezing.
