Description

A quick and flavorful Thai Basil Chicken recipe perfect for a weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground chicken
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup chopped yellow onion
  • 1/2 cup chopped red bell pepper
  • 1/4 cup chopped green beans
  • 1/4 cup Thai basil leaves
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon fish sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Cooked rice, for serving

Instructions

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  2. Add minced garlic and cook until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
  3. Add ground chicken and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned.
  4. Stir in chopped yellow onion, red bell pepper, and green beans. Cook until vegetables are tender-crisp, about 3-5 minutes.
  5. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, and fish sauce.
  6. Pour the sauce mixture over the chicken and vegetables. Add red pepper flakes, if using.
  7. Cook, stirring, until the sauce has thickened and coated the chicken and vegetables, about 2-3 minutes.
  8. Stir in fresh Thai basil leaves until wilted.
  9. Serve immediately over cooked rice.

Notes

  • For a spicier dish, add more red pepper flakes or a sliced chili pepper with the garlic.
  • If you can’t find Thai basil, regular basil can be substituted, though the flavor will be slightly different.
  • Feel free to add other vegetables like mushrooms, carrots, or broccoli.
  • Adjust soy sauce, oyster sauce, and fish sauce to your taste preference.
