Description

A delightful recipe for decorated wedding cookies, perfect for celebrations with their beautiful appearance and delicious taste.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
  • Royal icing or frosting for decorating
  • Sprinkles, edible glitter, or other decorations

Instructions

  1. Cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar in a large bowl until light and fluffy.
  2. Beat in the vanilla extract.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and salt.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Chill the dough for at least 30 minutes.
  6. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  7. Roll the dough into small balls (about 1 inch in diameter).
  8. Place the balls on the prepared baking sheets, about 2 inches apart.
  9. Flatten each ball slightly with the bottom of a glass or your hand.
  10. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  11. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  12. Once completely cool, decorate the cookies with royal icing or frosting and your chosen decorations.

Notes

  • For a smoother dough, ensure the butter is at room temperature.
  • You can add almond extract for a different flavor profile.
  • Chill the dough if it becomes too soft to handle.
  • Baking time may vary depending on your oven. Watch for the edges to turn golden.
  • Ensure cookies are completely cool before decorating to prevent the icing from melting.
