Ingredients

  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons butter or oil
  • 1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 8 ounces fresh mushrooms, sliced


Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, chopped onion, salt, and pepper. Mix well and form into 8 equal-sized patties.
  2. In a skillet, melt butter or oil over medium-high heat. Brown the patties on both sides for about 2-3 minutes per side. Drain off any excess grease.
  3. Place the browned patties in a slow cooker.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the cream of mushroom soup, water, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic powder. Stir in the sliced mushrooms.
  5. Pour the soup mixture over the patties in the slow cooker.
  6. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours, or on high for 3-4 hours, until the patties are cooked through and the gravy has thickened.
  7. Serve hot, spooning the gravy over the patties.
