Ingredients
- 1 cup warm milk (105-115°F)
- 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs, room temperature
- ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 4 ½ cups all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting
- 1 ½ cups fresh or frozen cranberries, chopped
- Zest of 1 orange
- ½ cup packed light brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- For the Glaze:
- 1 ½ cups powdered sugar
- ¼ cup milk
- 1 teaspoon orange zest
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine warm milk and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
- Stir in granulated sugar, eggs, melted butter, and salt. Gradually add the flour, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1-1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.
- While the dough rises, prepare the filling. In a small bowl, combine chopped cranberries, orange zest, brown sugar, and cinnamon.
- Punch down the risen dough and roll it out on a lightly floured surface into a 12×18-inch rectangle.
- Spread the cranberry-orange filling evenly over the dough, leaving a ½-inch border along one long edge.
- Starting from the long edge with the filling, tightly roll up the dough. Pinch the seam to seal.
- Cut the roll into 12 equal slices. Place the slices in a greased 9×13-inch baking pan.
- Cover the pan and let the rolls rise for another 30-45 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
- While the rolls are baking, prepare the glaze. Whisk together powdered sugar, milk, orange zest, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Let the rolls cool slightly in the pan before drizzling with the glaze.
Notes
- Using room temperature ingredients for the dough will help it rise better.
- If using frozen cranberries, do not thaw them before chopping.
- Adjust baking time as needed, as ovens can vary.
- The glaze can be made thicker or thinner by adjusting the amount of milk.
