Description

A hearty and flavorful BBQ Pulled Pork Mac and Cheese Bake, perfect for a comforting meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound elbow macaroni
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 cups milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 4 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 2 cups prepared pulled pork, warmed
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce
  • 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Cook macaroni according to package directions; drain and set aside.
  2. In a large saucepan, melt 1/2 cup butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
  3. Gradually whisk in milk and heavy cream until smooth. Bring to a simmer, stirring constantly, until thickened, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in cheddar cheese and Monterey Jack cheese until melted and smooth. Stir in salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  5. Add the cooked macaroni to the cheese sauce and stir to combine.
  6. In a separate bowl, gently mix the pulled pork with the BBQ sauce.
  7. Spoon half of the mac and cheese mixture into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
  8. Layer the BBQ pulled pork mixture evenly over the mac and cheese.
  9. Top with the remaining mac and cheese mixture.
  10. In a small bowl, combine panko breadcrumbs and 2 tablespoons melted butter. Sprinkle evenly over the top of the mac and cheese.
  11. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown and bubbly.
  12. Let stand for 5-10 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For an extra cheesy bake, add a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese on top before baking.
  • You can use your favorite store-bought or homemade pulled pork.
  • Adjust the amount of BBQ sauce to your preference.
  • If you don’t have panko breadcrumbs, regular breadcrumbs can be used.
