Description

A rich and savory bacon jam, perfect for elevating sandwiches, burgers, and appetizers.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound bacon, chopped
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup brewed coffee
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Cook bacon in a large skillet over medium heat until crisp. Remove bacon and drain most of the grease, leaving about 1 tablespoon in the skillet.
  2. Add the sliced onion to the skillet and cook until softened and caramelized, about 10-15 minutes.
  3. Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute more until fragrant.
  4. Stir in the brewed coffee, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, maple syrup, and black pepper.
  5. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook, stirring occasionally, until the liquid has reduced and thickened into a jam-like consistency, about 15-20 minutes.
  6. Return the cooked bacon to the skillet and stir to combine with the jam.
  7. Cook for another 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
  8. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • For a spicier jam, add a pinch of red pepper flakes.
  • The jam can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
  • Warm up the jam slightly before serving if desired.
