Description
A rich and savory bacon jam, perfect for elevating sandwiches, burgers, and appetizers.
Ingredients
- 1 pound bacon, chopped
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup brewed coffee
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Cook bacon in a large skillet over medium heat until crisp. Remove bacon and drain most of the grease, leaving about 1 tablespoon in the skillet.
- Add the sliced onion to the skillet and cook until softened and caramelized, about 10-15 minutes.
- Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute more until fragrant.
- Stir in the brewed coffee, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, maple syrup, and black pepper.
- Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook, stirring occasionally, until the liquid has reduced and thickened into a jam-like consistency, about 15-20 minutes.
- Return the cooked bacon to the skillet and stir to combine with the jam.
- Cook for another 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
- Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- For a spicier jam, add a pinch of red pepper flakes.
- The jam can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
- Warm up the jam slightly before serving if desired.
