Description

A simple and delicious recipe for making apple cider donuts in an air fryer.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup apple cider
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • For the Topping:
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, 1/2 cup sugar, baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, salt, and nutmeg.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg, apple cider, 1/4 cup melted butter, and vanilla extract.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
  4. Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Lightly grease your donut pan or silicone donut molds.
  6. Spoon the batter into the prepared donut pan, filling each cavity about two-thirds full.
  7. Air fry for 8-10 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. While the donuts are cooking, prepare the topping: In a small bowl, combine the 1/4 cup melted butter, 1/2 cup sugar, and 1 teaspoon cinnamon.
  9. Once the donuts are done, let them cool in the pan for a few minutes before carefully removing them.
  10. Dip each warm donut into the cinnamon-sugar topping, ensuring it’s well coated.
  11. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Make sure not to overfill the donut cavities, as the batter will rise.
  • If you don’t have a donut pan, you can use muffin tins, but the cooking time may vary.
  • For a richer flavor, you can use reduced apple cider.
